QUEZONIAN JUANDERER GOES TO PAHIYAS FESTIVAL
In 1578, two Franciscan missionaries came to spread Christianity, namely, Fray Juan de Plasencia and Fray Diego de Oropesa. They commenced the propagation of Christianity in the municipality converting 1,600 inhabitants into Christians. Legend says its town was derived from Lucban or pomelo tree.
There are tourist destinations in Lucban such as Kamay ni Hesus that I have posted in one of my recent blog.
PAHIYAS FESTIVAL

The Pahiyas Festival, originally known as the feast of San Isidro, showcases houses decorated with colorful kiping accented with farm reproduce such as rice, fruits, plants and vegetables as a way of thanksgiving for the bountiful harvests. It is celebrated at May 15 of each year.
Without Kiping, this festival wouldn’t be colorful. Kiping is a leaf shape wafers made from rice incorporated with different colors.

THINGS YOU CAN DO AT PAHIYAS FESTIVAL:
☑️Picture taking.
Since houses are decorated with extravagant and gaudy decorations made of kiping, wherever you go you can take instagramable photos.
☑️Eat. It is common for a festival to have foods served. It is a tradition for every family. But there are still foods around the street. Experience eating pansit habhab without using eating utensils. You can only use your mouth while the pansit is seved at a banana leaf.
☑️Talk with the local. Hospitality is a trait that Filipino are known for. You can socialize with the locals and even let them teach you to make a kiping.
